Thanksgiving is just around the corner and people are naturally asking what I’m thankful for. I confess that I often find myself stumped. My natural inclination in to focus on the things that I’m not thankful for. Things like ambiguity, changes I hadn’t anticipated, and where relationships are hard.
I don’t think I’m alone in this predisposition, though. At the end of Paul’s first letter to the church at Thessolonica he added this command: “Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.” (I Thes. 5:16-18)

I just reread my last letter in preparation for writing this one, and I’m encouraged by the glimmers of hope I see looking back on this month. I ended that letter by saying I’m too often blinded by my circumstances and loose sight of what God is doing.

I've spent the last couple of days reflecting on my summer and what I would write to you to encapsulate the past 3 months. My last prayer letter (please forgive my lack of communication this summer) came just after wrapping a film shoot for our new Summer Project promo.
Since then I’ve been in and out of the office taking Seminary level classes, traveling to Texas several times for birthdays and weddings, trying to meet with various people about various aspects of my projects, and had health problems crop up in the midst of it all. It is hard for me to function well outside of a relatively predictable schedule, and this summer has been anything but “normal.”

This is the end of my first full week back in the office since returning from France at the end of April. I am continually amazed at the variety of projects I have the privilege of being involved with simply because I am now working at the headquarters of Campus Crusade for Christ.
Just after finishing last month’s prayer letter, I walked into a meeting with John Boggs. He is a friend whom I met while working in the national office of the Campus Ministry last year and the director of Innovative Monkey Productions, a media group for the Campus Ministry.

It’s hard to believe that just two weeks ago at this time (Monday afternoon) Steve & Jennie Baumann and I had just finished the first leg of our journey to France. It feels like so much has happened since then! We spent the majority of our time at the Life Agape office (Campus Crusade for Christ’s name in much of Europe and Asia) in Evry, but we also had a couple of free days in Paris at the end of our trip.
